FAQ & What to Expect
-
How long is the march?
This is an approximately 3-3.5 mi march from Story & King to City Hall. There will be water stations on the route as well as multiple volunteers with wagons stocked with water throughout the march. Contingents may join the march at any point along the route (please contact coalition@maydaysanjose.org to request detailed route information if needed).
-
Is there a route map?
A detailed route map with water and restroom information will be provided to attendees on the day of the march.
-
How should I get to Story & King?
VTA bus route 22 joins the start and end points of the march, and will operate normally before the march begins. Once the march begins, VTA bus route 22 will likely be diverted, particularly in the westbound direction. *Our recommendation is to park near City Hall (where the march ends) and take the bus to Story & King for the rally at 2:30 (where we start).
-
Will there be security?
Yes, there will be easily identifiable volunteers dedicated to security throughout the march route. May Day always has infrastructure in place to maintain the safety of marchers while we take the streets. We keep us safe.
-
When will there be speakers, tables, vendors, and performances?
Speakers will present at our rally program at Story & King which starts at 2:30pm (march starts at 4). Tables, vendors, and performances will be at the end of the march at San José City Hall. We estimate arriving at about 6pm and estimate that the closing program will fully conclude at about 7pm.
-
Is there a speaker list?
We don’t have a speaker list to share publicly, but we do have confirmed speakers, as well as tablers, vendors, and performers. You can check out our social media or website gallery to get an idea of past speakers and performances.
2025 SJ May Day Coalition
May Day is International Workers Day – so we say FREE PALESTINE.
🇵🇸✊ This May Day season, we want to emphasize the solidarity that workers of all nations share.
With the unfolding genocide in Gaza, it’s important for workers to recognize that the labor struggles we face here in the U.S. are deeply intertwined with the national, anti-colonial struggles going on across the world.
